Melting Witches Bark (Printable)

Swirled chocolate bark featuring colorful melts and candy eyes, ready in 20 minutes for Halloween celebrations.

# What You'll Need:

→ Chocolate Base

01 - 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
02 - 1 cup white chocolate chips

→ Decorations

03 - 1/2 cup assorted colorful candy melts (green, orange, purple)
04 - 1/2 cup mini candy-coated chocolates (M&Ms or similar)
05 - 1/4 cup candy eyes
06 - 1/4 cup Halloween sprinkles

# Directions:

01 - Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ensure easy removal of the finished bark.
02 - Place semisweet chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring thoroughly after each interval, until completely smooth and fully melted.
03 - Pour the melted semisweet chocolate onto the prepared baking sheet. Spread evenly using a rubber spatula to form a rectangle approximately 1/4 inch thick.
04 - In separate microwave-safe bowls, melt the white chocolate chips and assorted candy melts. Microwave each in 20-second intervals, stirring between intervals, until smooth and fully melted.
05 - Drop spoonfuls of the melted white chocolate and colorful candy melts randomly over the dark chocolate base. Use a toothpick or skewer to gently swirl the colors together, creating a marbled effect without over-mixing.
06 - Immediately sprinkle candy-coated chocolates, candy eyes, and Halloween sprinkles evenly over the bark while the chocolate is still warm and tacky to ensure proper adhesion.
07 - Allow the bark to set at room temperature for approximately 30 minutes, or refrigerate for 10-15 minutes until firm and completely solidified.
08 - Once set, break the bark into irregular, rustic-sized pieces. Store in an airtight container at cool room temperature for up to 1 week.

# Helpful Tips:

01 -
  • The swirling process is ridiculously satisfying and impossible to mess up
  • Kids can do almost everything except the microwave part
  • It looks way more impressive than the 20 minutes you spent making it
02 -
  • White chocolate burns faster than dark chocolate, so stir it every 15 seconds once it starts melting
  • The swirl effect works best when all chocolates are slightly warm but not hot
  • Work quickly once you start adding toppings, the chocolate sets faster than you expect
03 -
  • Room temperature chocolate gives you more working time than chilled
  • Buy twice as many candy eyes as you think you need, trust me
  • Make two batches at once because it disappears faster than expected
