Dirt Pudding Chocolate Cookie Layers (Printable)

Creamy chocolate pudding layered with crushed cookies and gummy worms for a fun no-bake dessert.

# What You'll Need:

→ Pudding Layer

01 - 1 package (3.9 oz) instant chocolate pudding mix
02 - 2 cups cold milk
03 - 1 cup whipped topping, thawed

→ Cookie Dirt

04 - 18 chocolate sandwich cookies, finely crushed

→ Decorations

05 - 12 gummy worms

# Directions:

01 - In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the instant chocolate pudding mix and cold milk for 2 minutes until mixture thickens considerably.
02 - Gently fold the whipped topping into the pudding mixture until fully incorporated and smooth, taking care not to deflate the mixture.
03 - Crush the chocolate sandwich cookies using a food processor until fine crumbs form, or place them in a zip-top bag and roll with a rolling pin until they resemble soil texture.
04 - Spoon a layer of cookie crumbs into the bottom of 6 serving cups or jars. Add a layer of chocolate pudding mixture. Repeat layers, finishing with a generous topping of cookie crumbs to completely cover the pudding surface.
05 - Decorate each cup with 2 gummy worms, positioning them so they appear to crawl out of the dirt by partially embedding them in the cookie crumb layer.
06 - Refrigerate the assembled dirt pudding cups for at least 1 hour to allow flavors to meld and achieve optimal texture before serving.

# Helpful Tips:

01 -
  • Its the ultimate nostalgic dessert that transports you straight back to childhood birthday parties and summer barbecues
  • The no bake preparation means you can throw it together in twenty minutes flat when surprise guests show up
  • Something about eating worms out of dirt makes grown adults giggle like little kids every single time
02 -
  • The cookie layer needs to be thick enough at the bottom so it does not get soggy from the pudding sitting on top of it
  • If you are making these ahead of time wait until right before serving to add the gummy worms because they can start looking a bit sad after too long in the fridge
03 -
  • Make double the cookie dirt because people always fight over the spoonfuls that have the most crumb topping
  • Set out a small bowl of extra worms on the serving table because kids (and honest adults) will want more than two per cup
